This is the blog of a front end developer, eternal learner, maker, wife, and mother. My name is Li-Shann Tomchik and I am a 35 year-old developer. I fell in love with coding when I was 15, created my first website at 16 and I have been in love with coding ever since.
My primary focus is on custom WordPress themes, I love using WordPress because of how customizable you can make not just the front-end but also the back-end. WordPress actually got me really involved with full stack LAMP development, I have always built my own themes from scratch. That then led to me actually creating my own framework to build my themes – that took years of tweaking and testing. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and I realized that was not where my passion was because I was having more fun writing code than making graphics. 5 years later, I decided to pursue that by going back to school to get my second Bachelor’s in Information Technology.
My skills include HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL. I currently work for a company full time as a Front End Developer and the first female coder at the company 😉 I also run codeandpixelstudio.com which is founded by me.
Blogging is my calling, this is how I got into WordPress and I decided to start blogging again to share my work experience to try and encourage those who want to get into the field to not be afraid and to just go for it. I love what I do, coding is my life, I dream about code, I am constantly coding or thinking about projects to do.
